Angler of the Year is a title awarded to the angler who accumulates the most points throughout a season by consistently performing well in multiple events. This title recognizes not just single tournament victories, but also a consistent and strong overall performance across the entire season.
To earn AOY points you MUST be a Kansas Kayak Anglers member for that given season.
AOY points are earned at each event and they are awarded to you based on the position you finish in. For example, 1st is awarded 100 points, 2nd is awarded 99 points, 3rd is awarded 98 points and so on. If a non-member places higher than you, their spot will NOT rolldown. The position you finish in directly relates to the points you earn. If an angler does not submit any fish during a tournament they are given a default 15 points.
The final calculation for awarding AOY is done by taking your BEST 4 finishes throughout the season including the championship.
AOY is awarded a prize package including a plaque commemorating their accomplishment. AOY pays out the top 10% of the field as well so if there are more than 10 paid members in a given season additional spots will earn a prize package.
